You are invited to a free public forum on the potential for food in Davis on February 28 from 7pm - 9pm at Davis Community Chambers, 23 Russell Blvd, Davis. The forum will cover the topics of food innovation and entrepreneurship, food-related branding for the City of Davis, food sustainability, as well as food security and access in Davis. For tickets go to this Eventbrite page.
The forum will report on the conclusions that have been reached through a number of discussions among food experts and public officials held in recent months. These discussions were convened by: Dr. Catherine Brinkley, Professor in the College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences at UCD, Ann M. Evans, author of the Davis Farmer’s Market Cookbook and former Mayor of Davis, and Deema Tamimi, founder of Land & Ladle and Giving Garden, a non-profit focused on building a sustainable and equitable food system.
A preliminary report documenting the conclusions of the discussions will be published soon. You can participate by submitting audience questions at the forum. Or you can send in your questions before or after the forum to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Brett Lee, Mayor of Davis will start the forum with introductory remarks. Ann Evans, will be the forum moderator. Catherine Brinkley and Deema Tamimi will present portions of the report throughout the evening for speakers to discuss and take questions on. CivEnergy (www.civenergy.org) and Davis Media Access (www.davismedia.org) are co-hosting the forum. Light refreshments will be served.
