Issue: Food Policy: Home Cooking

The State of California recently, through AB 626, allows counties to legalize home-cooking (home restaurant) businesses. The Board of Supervisors recently declined to do this on a 5-0 vote, effectively denying home kitchen certification. Home businesses are an important part of any integrated vibrant food culture, which is at the heart of the Food and Economic Development Report, adopted by the City of Davis. You can access the report at bit.ly/davisfed. Would you be willing to: a) have the county send a delegation to Riverside County to study their implementation of their home kitchen ordinance, or b) establish a task force to look into the matter more deeply, or c.) would you support a reconsideration of the vote?

I would be happy to establish a task force to look into home kitchens and to join a delegation to Riverside County to study the implementation of their ordinance.
