The City of Davis budget was approved by the Davis City Council at their June 19 meeting. The draft budget was published in mid May. City Manager Mike Webb characterizes the budget as cautiously optimistic and warns of long-term fiscal challenges in his transmittal letter. "The Proposed Budget for 2018-2019 is one of cautious optimism. After multiple years of recessionary cuts to the budget, the last two budgets, as well as the 18-19 Proposed Budget, do not include cuts but rather stay the course of reductions made during those recession-era years." "While not currently in a recessionary mode, the City does face now and will continue in the coming years to face fiscal challenges."
